Despite my love of all things digital, I have a soft spot for paper products and love when they can work together seamlessly to make me more efficient. One of my favorite must-have paper products is Post-it Notes. Organizers on my desk corral the smallest 1” x 2” sizes that are perfect for one thought each, the pop-up 3”x3”s are for my client to-do lists, and then of course, there are the fun shapes that at a little whimsy to my day. At any given moment I have a stack of Post-it Notes on my desk, stuck to my monitor, and on my calendar and nothing is worse than having a great idea and leaving it behind but now I never have to worry because I can always take my fabulous thoughts with me!
Tech savvy lovers of Post-it® Products like me can rejoice over the free Post-it® Plus App, a new collaboration tool for iOS 8 devices that takes what’s been written on Post-it Notes, including brainstorms, ideation sessions, project maps and more into the digital world. I was excited about being able to capture handwritten notes digitally with the Post-it Evernote Collection announcement earlier this year , and now, with the Post-it Plus App, I can jot down my thoughts on Post-it Notes, capture and digitize my ideas and then take my ideas with me or organize, refine and build upon the brainstorm digitally.
How does the Post-it® Plus App work?
The Post-it Plus App recognizes all square Post-it Notes, from 3” x 3” Post-it Super Sticky Notes to Post-it Big Pads (with additional sizes coming soon) and digitizes up to fifty Post-it Notes at once. Digital notes within the app are captured as individual notes and can be moved, arranged, and sorted into any formation. Digital Post-it Notes allow for written content to be shared, organized, or used to refine ideas, add to discussions, and effectively collaborate on group projects.
Post-it® Plus App Features
The Post-it® Plus App combines the flexibility of paper with the accessibility of technology to provide users with a more efficient way of using a favorite tool in today’s digital age. The Post-it® Plus App allows you to:
- Capture your notes: use the app to capture images of brainstorm notes, project maps, storyboards and more, then instantly digitize up to fifty Post-it® Notes at once from your ideation session.
- Organize your thoughts: the Post-it® Plus App keeps each note separate, moveable and easy to arrange, giving you accurate but flexible documentation of your work session. You can even combine captures to collect ideas across multiple sessions, and group your notes in grids or any way you see fit.
- Share with everyone: Share the organized board with your entire team in one tap. Anyone can move, add or group notes to evolve great ideas and continue collaborating from anywhere. The Post-it® Plus App creates a shareable record that can be exported to common software programs including PowerPoint, Excel, Dropbox, PDF and more.
Why an Analog Tool Has Gone Digital
I work in a virtual world where conversations with my colleagues occur in Skype chats or Facebook Groups rather than around water coolers and documents are shared via the cloud instead of around a conference table. This new way of doing work requires the flexibility of being able to brainstorm on paper but share my ideas in digital forms. I’m excited to be able to try and share how I’m using the new Post-it® Plus App to collaborate with colleagues from around the country who I work with in my virtual office.
