TotSpot: Mobile Marketplace for Buying & Selling Kids Fashion (and Ribbon Barrettes Benefitting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation!)

September 12, 2014 By Leticia

TotSpot

This post is part of a compensated partnership with TotSpot

One of my biggest parental challenges is dealing with the clothes that our kids have outgrown. Cleaning out closets is never fun but then dealing with what comes out is even worse. It’s easy to make piles of overly worn clothes that will go in the trash while saving a few favorite pieces as keepsakes. But what about the many gently used items or barely worn clothes that they’ve outgrown well before a garment has reached the end of its life? I like to pass things on to friends whose kids are just a bit younger, saving certain brands to resell on the highly addictive app TotSpot.

TotSpot is an app that serves as a mobile marketplace to sell your family’s clothes or buy the things your kids need.

Selling on TotSpot

Part of the brilliance of TotSpot is that the only tool you need is your phone. To get started, sign up for the free TotSpot app. Tip: If you use my code (ZFDUIQ), we’ll both get a $2 credit to our TotSpot accounts!

One of the reasons why I like using TotSpot is because it’s so easy to list items for sale in a matter of minutes. Simply tap on the Camera icon with the word Sell at the bottom of the app to open the camera on your smartphone. Snap up to five photos to accompany your listing, type in a title and description.

How to start selling on TotSpot

Pull down menus make it easy to complete the information in the category, brand, gender, size, and condition fields. Finally choose the type of shipping depending on the size of the item you’re selling and you’re done!

In a partnership with TotSpot, we’re selling Emily’s ribbon barrettes that benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF)! 100% of the proceeds of every sale will go towards CFF. Normally TotSpot takes 20% off the selling price of any item being sold but they’re generously donating 100% of the listed price back to CFF!

Ribbon Barrettes for Cystic Fibrosis Foundation on Totspot

We’ve listed pairs or sets of 4 ribbon barrettes in a variety of color combinations. You’ll notice some feature solid satin ribbon while others feature sparkly ribbon and prices vary accordingly. Custom ribbon barrettes are also for sale on TotSpot, benefitting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation too!

Emily is SO excited about this partnership. She’s currently raised $763 for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and is looking towards a new goal of $1000! Help her out by visiting our TotSpot ribbon barrette listings! Buying is so super easy! Keep reading to find out how!

Buying on TotSpot

You can always scroll through the listings on the main screen to find Editors’ Picks and see cute clothes you wish fit your kids but I find the most efficient way to shop is to create Tots Profiles for each child. Tots Profiles allow you to sort listings by gender, age, clothes size, and shoe size to find the items that are just right for each child. I have a Tots Profile for each child so I can quickly tap on their initial at the top of the app’s screen to be taken directly to the fashions that will fit them.

TotSpot Tot Profile for easy shopping

Find an item you love and tap on it to make it yours. If you’re a first time buyer, you’ll need to take a minute (literally!) to enter in your credit card info and shipping information before checking out. After the transaction is completed, the seller gets a notification that their item has been purchased and they pack it up and send it on its way!

While waiting to pick up pizza on a recent Saturday night, Emily and I sat down with TotSpot to see what we could find. She very quickly found the long sleeve Gap flowered shirt pictured below. Since it was my first time purchasing, I had to enter in my credit card and shipping information but the whole purchasing process took about 2 minutes! Quick and easy!

Buying Clothes on TotSpot

Buyers get notifications that sellers have accepted their offers through the app and also via email. Once the sellers generate a label for items purchased through TotSpot, an email with the USPS tracking information is generated letting you know your item is on the way.

TotSpot Shipping ConfirmationOur Gap flowered shirt arrived just three days after we purchased it via TotSpot. Of course, delivery time varies according to how quickly a seller packages up an item and where in the country they live but Emily was amazed that her shirt came so quickly!

Since buying the flowered Gap shirt, we’ve bought two more items for Emily- a white embroidered long sleeve top and a Lands’ End dress. I received notifications that they’re on their way and they’ll be perfect for her to wear when the cold snap hits our area soon.

Summary

As a new free app, TotSpot is a dream to use thanks to a simple interface that allows users to list individual items or sets of clothing that your children have outgrown or search for new-to-you items they need as they grow.

Interested in seeing what TotSpot has to offer? Totspot is available free from the iTunes Store for iOS devices.

Use my code (ZFDUIQ) when you sign up so each of us will get a $2 credit towards shopping on our TotSpot accounts! After you try it, spread the love and share your code so you and your friends can get $2 credits for singing up!

I am a TotSpot ambassador and received a credit to try shopping via the app and am being compensated for my role. All opinions are my own.

I’m going to go download this app today! I am going through the attic this weekend and most of the clothes were going to friends. I think I’ll try a few pieces on here. And maybe get a few barrettes 😉

My best advice to parents of college students? Whe My best advice to parents of college students? When they say “you should come” - GO! ✈️

Over the last 4 years it’s been so wonderful to be invited for glimpses of Emily’s life on campus. I’ve been welcomed by her amazing friends who have become part of our family, met the professors, faculty & staff she talks so fondly of, and gotten to know fellow parents through trips to Family Weekend all while enjoying time with my best girl. 💕

Today I’m heading home as a proud mom with a full heart for all that I’ve experienced on campus during her college years and am in disbelief I’ll be back for graduation next week. 🥹

I continue to be in awe that we put something in space that existed up there for 5 months. 🥰 Our CubeSat took photos 📸 and tweeted 🐦‍⬛them out as we hoped it would thanks to the many students (and parents!) who have been involved in our meaningful real-world hands-on STEM project that enabled them to learn about technology and space over the past 11 years.

I found some old notes from a 2015 meeting and under Questions, I wrote: “If we are successful, would we do this again?”

And the answer is yes! 🎉 Here’s to SilverSat 2.0 and involving more kids to dream up a new mission for our next Silver Spring CubeSat! 💕

Happy #MedalMonday to everyone who ran a race over Happy #MedalMonday to everyone who ran a race over the weekend and is adding new race bling to their collection! 🎉 I did a thing this weekend too but it didn’t involve another race! 😂Here’s the before, swipe ⬅️ for the after!

Inspired by seeing @allytbrett_runs ’s race medals, I did a little medal reorg that makes my OCD self happy. 🙌🏼Pro tip- Instead of sliding the bar of the medal rack through the ribbon, I looped the ribbon around the bar so all the medals face forward! This small thing made a huge difference and makes me happy every time I walk into my office!💕

My next race is the 25th anniversary @stjude Memphis Marathon Weekend on December 5th. I’m thinking this anniversary year medal will be the start of a new medal rack, just like my 15th anniversary medal started this collection.🫶🏼

If you want to run Memphis with me, race registration is open! Comment Memphis and I’ll DM you the registration link and happy to answer any and all race ❓s!

Race medals are great but charity bling is better! Race medals are great but charity bling is better! 🏅When I first started running for @stjude 10 years ago, I thought I’d be one and done but here I am- 15 races later and having raised almost $50,000! 🎉

The goal has always been to help end childhood cancer and I feel so fortunate to have met the most amazing people along the way. My fellow @stjudedc Hero Ambassadors are a group of dedicated baddies who I adore. 🥰

We cheer for each other on and off the course and as my friend & fellow DC Hero Ambassador @jess_santora says, “My goal was never just to reach the finish line- it was to help more people get there too.” 🏃🏻‍♀️

Here’s to more races, more money raised for St. Jude, and forever friendships! Already excited (and fundraising) for St. Jude Memphis Marathon Weekend this December. ✨Fundraising link in bio and donations of any amount are appreciated to help me reach my $4,000 goal! 🙏🏼

When Team @otfsilverspring gets out of the studio When Team @otfsilverspring gets out of the studio for @runrockandroll DC! 🎉 Today 20 of us got out from under the orange lights and crushed 5Ks and half marathons to benefit @stjude kids and families as St. Jude Heroes.💪🏼

I am so proud of each and every one of us and especially incredibly grateful that OTFSS members said yes to running today! 🥰

We fundraised, trained, and ran to give families hope that their kids will survive childhood cancer and to support researchers as they work towards a cure for childhood cancer and other life threatening diseases. 💕

As a mom of 2, I know no parent should ever have to hear “your child has cancer” so thank you Team OTFSS for supporting St. Jude’s mission by running the streets of DC! We did it and I’m already looking forward to next year’s RNR DC race so we can do it again!🧡🧡🧡
