We’ve had a hot water heater break over a holiday weekend, wondered whether to repair or replace our refrigerator just days before leaving for a summer vacation, and a dryer that partially dried loads of laundry when my husband was out of town for a week. No one can never predict when household appliances will be problematic but it’s never at a convenient time and it always involves a lengthy service window with technicians who never arrive on time.
If you’ve experienced this, you’ll appreciate a company I recently tried out called Puls that offers seamless at-home service when you need it and technicians who arrive when they’re supposed to.
Puls makes it easy to install or repair anything in your home, even after a DIY fail. The company has a nationwide network of skilled technicians who can arrive at your doorstep in days or even hours to repair smartphones, mount brand new flat screen TVs, repair refrigerators, open garage doors that are stuck shut, and more. Their goal is to get problems around the house fixed so you can move on with your life.
But how do you know that the person who comes to your door has the right skills to fix your problem? Venture Beat reports that Puls “isn’t tied to a single brand or type of tech, but has a network of more than 2,500 vetted professionals” available in almost every U.S. state.
The company ensures that you receive quality service by carefully selecting qualified technicians, putting them through a customized orientation program, and giving them the right parts and tools to do the job.
According to Puls CEO, Itai Hirsch, technicians are often paid a flat fee per job and have the potential to earn higher compensation than if they were doing the same job elsewhere. Technicians also undergo thorough background checks and are always held to a high standard of quality. The parts used in the repair are guaranteed.
Sounds interesting, right? After Puls reached out to me, I was curious about their service and decided to try them out.
Even though my husband had returned home to fix our non-drying dryer, we still had an urgent need for their service. My 12 year old son dropped his smartphone during a camping trip and cracked the glass. It was desperately in need of repair. I was wary of the mall kiosk, was already having scheduling difficulties with local repair shops, and didn’t want to send the phone away and be without it for a week, so I decided this was the perfect opportunity to try out Puls.
Scheduling Puls for an On-Site Repair
Scheduling a Puls smartphone technician couldn’t have been easier. I clicked through the website to enter information about my son’s Galaxy S7 Edge, the address where I would be with the phone, and my preferred time and date for the technician to visit.
I received a confirmation email seconds after scheduling my repair.
As the time of my appointment was approaching, I received a text from Puls letting me know that my technician, Michael, was on his way. They provided an ETA based on Michael’s current location and like Uber, I was able to tap on a link in the text to pull up a map to see exactly where he was in relation to my location in real time.
For privacy reasons, I’m including a general example of what this map looks like.
And just like Uber, I received a text notifying me when Michael had arrived.
What to Expect During Your Puls Repair
Michael arrived at the door and greeted us warmly. He was holding a small bag of tools to use during the phone repair and a package that contained the replacement screen for my son’s Samsung S7 Edge.
I noticed that the package stated the parts were genuine Samsung parts as Michael sat down and got started. After handing the phone to my son to enter his password and powering down the device, he worked quickly and efficiently but answered questions as we looked on, fascinated at what lay behind the glass of a S7 Edge.
A heat gun was plugged in and used to warm the adhesive that allowed him to separate the LCD digitizer touch screen from the metal housing frame.
Using a series of small tools, Michael swapped parts like the battery, motherboard, and SIM card from my son’s old frame into the new one.
He used the heat gun to seal the new adhesive, fusing the new cover glass to the frame. The final step was to have my son power on the phone, enter his password, and tap to make sure it was fully functional. It was!
The repair of a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge took about 40 minutes from start to finish. Before leaving, Michael shared Puls’ warranty, guaranteeing the replacement parts for life with the exception of broken cover glass.
Summary of Our Puls Experience
I really appreciated the convenience that Puls brought to my life. From start to finish, the process was easy and efficient, beginning with the user-friendly site. I love the ability to book an hour time slot where technicians come when they’re supposed to, rather than the endless waiting and wondering that we’ve all experienced with other services.
With this service, I got to cross something off my To Do list without any major headaches. And that’s rare!
I’d definitely use Puls and their trusted team of experienced technicians to repair broken cover glass on another smartphone, investigate why my dryer isn’t working, fix my refrigerator, diagnose any future appliance problems, or fix the leaky toilet that my husband thought he fixed before he left for another work trip.
I also see Puls as a perfect fit for people who need to schedule service calls for their aging parents or grandparents who live in a far away city and who don’t have trusted service providers nearby.
Bottom line: Even though this is a sponsored post where Puls has hired me to share my experience, I’m never contractually bound by any clients to say positive things. Before engaging with any client, I always ask myself if I would use the product or service myself — or recommend it to friends or family following my experience. The answer must be “yes,” as it is in this case. In my experience, Puls definitely helps you fix problems quickly and easily so you can move on with your life.
Puls is available in many of the largest metro areas in the U.S. For more information on the types of services Puls provides or to book a technician, visit the Puls website.
