When we bought out house nearly 19 years ago, it came with gorgeous old trees that give us plenty of shade in the spring and summer months but the shade we love also resulted in an explosive mosquito population. I’d spend time after summer thunderstorms emptying vessels to remove any standing drops of water where I knew mosquito larvae could grow, slathering on mosquito repellant, and even got backyard chickens to help control the mosquito population. Despite attempts to maintain a mosquito-free yard, nothing worked as well as having come to provide regular yard treatments to eliminate backyard pests. We’ve already started our annual all-natural mosquito barrier treatments for the year to help us enjoy our yard to the fullest!
If you’re thinking about hiring DC Mosquito Squad to spray your yard this year, here are 3 reasons to choose their all-natural mosquito control. Keep reading for your chance to win a regular or all-natural barrier spray for your yard, courtesy of !
3 Benefits of All-Natural Mosquito Spray
Safe, Effective Treatment without Synthetics
When our kids were younger, I was hesitant to spray. I worried about our pets, backyard vegetable garden, and having two kids who loved to play outside. Had I known about the all-natural mosquito option from DC Mosquito Squad earlier, I probably wouldn’t have waited so long to get our yard sprayed.
The all-natural treatment option has been an effective treatment of the control of pests in our yard without posing a risk to our chickens or Labrador. Our backyard chickens are constantly doing their part to eliminate pests by pecking under bushes and in the grass for bugs to eat.
Oliver the Labrador loves to flush out rabbits hiding in our yard’s shady spots. Since the all-natural mosquito spray is absent of synthetic ingredients, I feel better that it won’t post a risk to our pets who have free reign of our yard during the daytime hours but still protects us against biting insects and helps keep Oliver tick-free.
Protects the Pollinators
We’ve had a backyard fruit and vegetable garden ever since our kids were little. I never wanted to harm our backyard ecosystem by introducing something into our yard that would hurt the health of our plants or the good bugs we rely on for the health of our gardens. Even though there are many reasons for the decline of pollinators, I feel better knowing the all-natural mosquito spray from DC Mosquito Squad doesn’t pose a risk to pollinators.
The absence of bees, butterflies, moths, flies, birds, beetles, ants, and other pollinators puts our ecosystem at risk but research conducted by University of Maryland found that pesticides aren’t the sole culprit in honey bee colony declines. I still feel better knowing the all-natural mosquito control we’ve chosen for our yard doesn’t cause harm to pollinators and plants.
Regular Treatment I Don’t Have to Think About
There are so many things I have to think about as a parent but I’m glad that scheduling DC Mosquito Squad treatment isn’t one of them! Once DC Mosquito Squad treatment starts, technicians come every 14 days to apply the all-natural mosquito repellant. I always get an email the day before notifying me of our scheduled treatment and it includes a reminder to keep pets inside for 30 minutes after technicians are done. We also have a note in our account for technicians to call when they’re on the way. This allows our backyard chickens to enjoy time in our yard, without having to be cooped up for longer than necessary!

Cheverly, MD. I feel like we don’t fully get to enjoy our backyard due to mosquitos! We’ve don’t spray applications ourselves but they don’t seem to work very well. I’m also crazy about emptying any bits of standing water.
