I admit that the AP Physics and magnet pre-calculus classes Emily is currently taking as a high school freshman are well outside my comfort zone. Even though her teachers are always available to answer questions at lunch and she has a group chat with friends in her engineering magnet program, there are times when she gets stuck. Since it’s been decades since I’ve taken these courses, I’m not confident I can give her the help she needs but feel fortunate she can access to get immediate help.
Introducing Tútit
The app that connects students to a vast network of college students, teachers, professors, tutors, and qualified professionals for on-demand pay-as-you-go tutoring. The technology behind the app makes it easy to connect to a tutor quickly and easily for regular homework help or studying for AP exams.
Since the app uses a pay-as-you-go model, there’s no long-term commitment, subscription, or need to pre-purchase a pricey package of sessions. Each session is billed by the minute (after a five-minute minimum) and pricing starts at $29 for 30 minutes of tutoring. The flexibility of tútit’s pricing structure provides a more affordable option for families. Whether your child needs a five-minute refresher or 50 minutes with a tútit tutor, the company believes “The minute you get it, you’re done.”
Our Experience with the Tútit App
Before spring break, Emily was assigned homework in AP Physics, magnet pre-calculus, her two college level engineering classes, and English. With a lengthy to-do list, she’s returned home from volunteering at Girl Scout camp each day and sat down at her desk, plugging away at her assignments until she ran into precalculus homework with horizontal asymptotes of functions. A few days into spring break, Emily wasn’t sure she was fully understanding her teacher’s explanation so she grabbed her phone and opened the app.
She typed in the subject she needed help with and requested a tutor. The app gives you the option of reviewing bios of each of the tutors available or you can tap to request the first available tutor.
Emily tapped to request the first available tutor and sent out a request to all 86 available tutors in their network.
Through the app on her phone, Emily was connected to a tutor instantly. After exchanging quick hellos via text, the tutor asked about the question or concept that Emily needed help with. Emily activated her phone’s microphone and they had a conversation about her spring break precalculus homework.
To better understand the context of Emily’s question, the tutor asked if she could snap a photo of the assignment. Taking and sending a photo to a tutor directly through the chat window is one of ’s easy to use features that allows students to leverage technology to get the assistance they need quickly.
After reviewing the photo of Emily’s horizontal asymptote homework, her tutor explained the maximum values and confirmed that she was doing her assignment correctly.
Her tutor also used the whiteboard feature to draw a graph of the function.
As a former teacher, I appreciated that Emily’s tutor checked for understanding and confirmed that she understood horizontal asymptotes before they disconnected. She also let Emily know she could request another session at any time if she had any additional questions.
The total tutoring session took less than 10 minutes and cost $10 which seems like a small price to pay to avoid frustration and build confidence in new concepts that helped Emily move on with her homework.
Summary of Our Tútit App Experience
Emily appreciated how quickly was able to connect her to a large network of precalculus tutors who could help her answer her question and move on with her homework. She commented that the sound quality was far superior to other virtual tutoring services that we’ve tried in the past.
Tútit’s easy to use interface makes it an effective learning tool for first time users. I watched over Emily’s shoulder the first time she used and she had no trouble navigating the app to connect with a tutor or communicate about her homework thanks to intuitive features.
Emily has used when she needs a quick review of a concept learned in class, clarification about a term introduced by her teacher, or is in need of reassurance that she’s solving an equation correctly. ’s ability to connect her to a tutor quickly has been a lifesaver and I highly recommend it for kids of any age and for any subject matter.

I have always thought math especially algebra is somewhat difficult. How to help?Tutoring if you aren’t good at it yourself, and actually here in town ther are some community resources for homework help. I do like this app though and think it makes a whole lot of sense for perhaps when answers can not be found.
