When I was little, advent calendars were part of our holiday tradition. Starting on December 1, my brother and I would open a little door that revealed a piece of chocolate. We looked forward to opening a door every day in December, with the final one being opened on Christmas Eve. The tradition of advent calendars continues in our house, even with college age kids. We still enjoy the chocolate ones of my youth but have also branched out.
