Personalized iPad Bluetooth Keyboard Portfolio by Things Remembered (w. giveaway)

June 9, 2011 By Leticia

Father’s Day in our house is always a little tricky. Tech Savvy Daddy is notorious for buying himself the latest and greatest gadgets and always for the lowest price around so it’s difficult for me to match his deal seeking abilities and beat him to the punch. Rather than buying the hot tech toy, I’m always on the lookout for cool accessories that will protect yet elevate it to a different level of cool.
Since the iPad2 is the hottest tech gift of the year, I was thrilled when Things Remembered approached me about reviewing their personalized iPad Bluetooth Keyboard Portfolio.  Just as the name indicates, it’s so much more than just a case.

iPad Bluetooth Keyboard Portfolio from Things Remembered
The iPad Bluetooth Keyboard Portfolio arrived in a stylish and sturdy box and wrapped in tissue paper making it ready for gift giving.  The black case measures 9.8″ x 7.9″ x 1.2″ and is made of soft leather-like polyurethane with a pebble texture.  It features white stitching to add nice contrast.

Packaged ready for gift giving

The silver engravable plate is large enough to accommodate 3 lines of text containing 28 characters each and is securely attached to the front of the portfolio.  I always hate when personalized items have those stick on plates that seem to be held on with double sided tape that never last and this certainly is not one of those items.  The silver plate is even slightly recessed into the padded cover.

The portfolio was much thicker than expected thanks to generous padding that would protect the front and back of the iPad.  Upon opening it up and sliding the iPad inside, all sides of the device were protected thanks to the snug fit.
The built-in Bluetooth keyboard was easy to pair with the iPad and comfortable to use.  The keys are rubberized to not leave a mark on the iPad screen and are raised from the surface.  They also have a nice springy touch that helps prevent hand fatigue while typing.  While I haven’t used the keyboard enough to fully test it’s charge, it is said to have a built in rechargeable lithium battery that lasts up to 90 hours on a single charge.
Raised rubberized keyboard is comfortable to type on

The iPad portfolio allows iPad owners to use their device in either landscape or portrait mode.  The built in hands-free stand comes out of the front of the case provides a great viewing angle to minimize eye strain.  It is securely attached and stays out of the way when not in use.  The rubber bumper located above the keyboard allows for the iPad to securely stand in portrait mode.

Magnetic kickstand on the cover stays out of the way
when not in use.
The iPad Bluetooth Keyboard Portfolio is currently on sale for $99.99 (regular price is $125), making it comparable to other iPad cases with built in Bluetooth keyboards such as the Zaggmate.
It can be ordered from the Things Remembered site or from one of over 600 retail locations around the country.  The deadline for Father’s Day shipping is Tuesday, June 14th for regular delivery, June 16 for express plus delivery, and Friday, June 17 for premium delivery service.

    Jack of All Trades.
    Master of None.

I love learning about anything, and therein lies the problem. I suppose I get restless when I’m working on a problem or learning about something new, that I move on to the next problem or new thing. Of course I learned enough about this new thing or old thing to get a general idea about it. However, I don’t take the necessary time to truly master it… anyway. 🙂 Thanks!

I thought this would be a great gift for my brother in law, who just received his doctorate and does much of his work-related tasks via his iPad.

I went online to ThingsRemembered.com this morning and saw that the item was available at a local TR store. Great! I ordered at 9:45 and saw that the item would be available at 1:45 this afternoon. I then received a voicemail at 3:55pm from their fulfillment center. I called back at 4:01 and no one was available at the extension that was left in the VM. Apparently they had called me 5 minutes before closing time.

I called the local store from which I’m supposed to pick up the item (for presentation tomorrow evening). I was informed that the item is not in stock! All that the store rep could offer was “you’ll have to take this up with the corporate office”.

I will not shop from them again.

Today we’re celebrating National Rescue Dog Day Today we’re celebrating National Rescue Dog Day because we’re so glad Goldie and Murphy are part of our family! 🐶 We gave Goldie her forever home when she was 6 months old. She had been given up by her original family because she was just too much for them. She was an enthusiastic pup who loved to jump straight up in the air when she got excited and she used to hop the fence in the mornings to go visit her best dog friend, Katy, over our back fence. She still jumps from standing when she sees a deer, meets a favorite dog friend, or gets a visit from @lisatasch but now at age 5, she’s more calm and forever faithful. 🦮We met Murphy and his 9 brothers and sisters just days after he was born although we didn’t know he would be the puppy we’d claim as ours. Murphy has that puppy energy but in his quiet moments is a total love bug. He hogs the free space in our king bed (he even has his own pillow!) and loves nothing more than to press his body into me or lie directly on me. 🐾 Goldie and Murphy came to us through @labrescuelrcp and we couldn’t be happier that they’re part of our family! ❤️ #rescuedogday #labrescue #labrador #adoptdontshop

I am so looking forward to running in Memphis again this December! 🎉 If you’ve ever thought of running a race that does so much good in the world, join me!
