Ribbon Barrettes for Research (benefitting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation) is Raising $1000 through Pear! Learn how your group can get corporate sponsorship for free too!

October 12, 2014 By Leticia

Ribbon Barrettes for Research Pear page, sponsored by Johnsonville

This is a sponsored post where all money earned from it will be donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

What started out as a hobby has turned into a full-fledged fundraising effort by my daughter to make and sell ribbon barrettes to support the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s (CFF) Great Strides walk one of the largest efforts to raise money for research that we hope will one day lead to a cure for cystic fibrosis (CF).

Ribbon Barrettes for Research- ordering info

My determined daughter and co-founder of Ribbon Barrettes for Research (yes, now there’s a website!), makes ribbon barrettes after school when her homework is done before sports practice and music lessons, in the evenings while she watches her favorite shows on TV, in the car as we drive to and from activities. She is completely determined to raise money for important research that we hope will help lead to a cure for people with CF like her best friend, Ava.

I like to say my daughter is raising money to support CF research, one ribbon barrette at a time but I recently learned about  that can help her fundraising efforts skyrocket thanks to your help! Pear is a site that groups and events can use to connect to corporate sponsors who will provide donations of cash, custom t-shirts for events, food and catering, or products and services. With a sponsorship from Johnsonville, groups can raise up to $1000 quickly and easily for their 501c3 charitable organization by harnessing the power of your community.

Qualifying groups for  include:

  • School (K-12) group or event
  • Sports team, league or event (non-school)
  • Not-for-profit or cause-based group or event
  • All other types of group or event
  • College group or event
  • Family reunions
  • Age range(s): 13-17, 18-24, 25-35, 36-54, 55+

And remember that you can get $1,000 toward a charity and keep whatever they earn, even if it’s not the full $1,000!

Pear sponsorships for groups and events

To set up a sponsorship on Pear takes about a minute. Just click through the menus to describe your group, enter a photo, and a description and your fundraising page is done. Sharing your page with Facebook friends and via email right as soon as it’s done is the best way to spread the world and build momentum to ensure that your group or organization will meet your goal quickly. Simple sharing tools create co-branded logos that your group can use to share to spread the word. Reach out to friends via Facebook or email them join your efforts. Simply showing support by using their social media channels to spread the word to their friends to earn points that translate into dollars for your organization.

Pear generated logos for social sharing

Options for your supporters include viewing the sponsorship of the organization, liking Pear on Facebook, answering a quick question, visiting the sponsor’s website, uploading a photo to share on Facebook, subscribing to their email list, and rallying your friends to help out. All methods of support are completely optional but the more you do to share, the more points you earn for your actions. And those actions are worth money that the corporate sponsors are happy to pay for with a donation.

Pear Group Sponsorship Page

It sounds like there’s a catch but there really isn’t one. Setting up Emily’s Ribbon Barrettes 4 CF Research sponsorship page on Pear took me only a matter of minutes. In less than a minute we were connected to Johnsonville as our sponsor. In a matter of minutes, we had raised $25. An hour later we were at $41. Everyone who supports your sponsorship page can earn up to $13 for their actions! It’s so simple and so easy. Every group should try this to raise $1000 for their organization!

Campaigns to raise money through Pear last for 10 days but you can contact them if you need more time although you don’t need to reach the $1000 threshold to receive cash earned during the time period. At the end of 10 days, you’re free to cash out and your 501c3 organization will receive a direct donation for your efforts.

So now that our sponsorship page is live on Pear, we need your assistance to help us reach our $1000 goal in the next 9 days. Please click through the widget below to visit our page and complete actions that are worth points that will help us raise much needed money to benefit ongoing research by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation that we hope will one day lead to a cure for CF.

To learn more about Emily’s fundraising efforts supporting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Great Strides:
  • Visit RibbonBarrettes.com, her new website
  • Like the Ribbon Barrettes for Research Facebook page
  • Read about the lessons I’ve learned through my daughter’s fundraising efforts
  • Learn how you can purchase ribbon barrettes through the TotSpot mobile app where the company is generously donating all proceeds to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation

Today we’re celebrating National Rescue Dog Day Today we’re celebrating National Rescue Dog Day because we’re so glad Goldie and Murphy are part of our family! 🐶 We gave Goldie her forever home when she was 6 months old. She had been given up by her original family because she was just too much for them. She was an enthusiastic pup who loved to jump straight up in the air when she got excited and she used to hop the fence in the mornings to go visit her best dog friend, Katy, over our back fence. She still jumps from standing when she sees a deer, meets a favorite dog friend, or gets a visit from @lisatasch but now at age 5, she’s more calm and forever faithful. 🦮We met Murphy and his 9 brothers and sisters just days after he was born although we didn’t know he would be the puppy we’d claim as ours. Murphy has that puppy energy but in his quiet moments is a total love bug. He hogs the free space in our king bed (he even has his own pillow!) and loves nothing more than to press his body into me or lie directly on me. 🐾 Goldie and Murphy came to us through @labrescuelrcp and we couldn’t be happier that they’re part of our family! ❤️ #rescuedogday #labrescue #labrador #adoptdontshop
After 3 days at St. Jude Children’s Research Hos After 3 days at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, I’m leaving Memphis so very grateful to be able to support St. Jude’s mission of working to end childhood cancer. ❤️ Spending time connecting, brainstorming, and absorbing the wisdom of fellow Hero Ambassadors from around the country was inspiring because the work we do fundraising through our endurance events helps St. Jude do the incredible work they do to ensure families never receive a bill for their child’s treatment, housing, travel, or food and continue important research that will continue to reduce rates of pediatric cancer and other childhood diseases. I am so looking forward to running in Memphis again this December! 🎉 If you’ve ever thought of running a race that does so much good in the world, join me! I’d love to have you come to Memphis and run with me! Or you can always donate through the fundraising link in my bio. ❤️ #stjude #stjudeheroes #memphis #stjudedmv

As a teacher and parent, I am well aware of the me As a teacher and parent, I am well aware of the mental health challenges our youth face and am really pleased to share that over the weekend I became certified in Youth Mental Health First Aid through the National Council for Mental Wellbeing! 🎉 I’ve always worked to build relationships with the young people in my life- whether my kids’ friends or students- and this certification has made me more mindful of the signs and symptoms of mental health challenges so I can have important and supportive conversations when symptoms first start to appear. 🗣️A big component of the training also included developing a self-care plan which is critical when supporting others. 💕 I’m so grateful to have taken this certification for free through the University of Maryland whose blended learning format (2 hours of self paced online work + 5 hour instructor led class over Zoom) was fantastic! 💻 The teacher in me really applauds the course design and I’m glad to join the 3 million+ in the U.S. certified in Youth Mental Health First Aid. 🏥 If this is something you’re interested in doing, University of Maryland has free courses on Saturdays or Sundays from 10-4pm between June-October. Swipe ⬅️ for more information, including a QR code with more information and a survey to take as part of the sign up process. And if you have any questions- leave a comment or DM me. I’m happy to help you get certified too! ❤️ #mentalhealth #mentalhealthmatters #mentalhealthfirstaid #youthmentalhealth #mentalhealthawarenessmonth
